KORTEN – A Golden Wine Cellar

19.01.2018

KORTEN CELLAR’s exquisite wines are traditionally among the big finalists of the most prestigious international competitions and charts. Over the last 5 years, the cellar has won a total of 26 awards, of which 9 gold, 14 silver and 3 bronze medals. As a matter of fact, each one of Korten Cellar’s wines boasts a gold medal from the world’s most prestigious competitions: Korten Grand Vintage was distinguished at Concours Mondial de Bruxelles 2016, Korten Merlot – at Vinalies Internationales, Paris 2015, Korten Cabernet Sauvignon – at Mundus Vini 2015, Korten Natura Rose Melnik – at Concours Mondial de Bruxelles 2016.

The winery’s portfolio includes: Korten Syrah, a wine that has won two gold medals alongside the prize “Best Bulgarian Wine” at Mundus Vini in 2015 and 2017, as well as Korten Natura Mavrud & Rubin, also boasting two gold medals from two successive harvests at the Concours Mondial de Bruxelles 2016 and at Vinalies Internationales, Paris 2017.

All of these high accolades are the reason why in the world of winemaking, Korten Cellar is referred to as “THE GOLDEN CELLAR“.

Naturally, behind this success stands an equally exquisite team of professionals – the oenologists Kapka Georgieva and Rosen Georgiev, as well as a name that is emblematic for the cellar – Dimitar Panov. In 2016, Dimitar Panov was the recipient of the only award of its kind handed out so far – for lifelong contribution to Bulgarian wines, from the Union of Oenologists in Bulgaria. There is really not much else to say about this, other than the fact that, alongside with Kapka Georgieva, he created the Solitaire wine series – true diamonds in the crown of Bulgarian wines.

With each subsequent vintage, Korten Cellar has upholded its golden standards.

The wines are produced from carefully chosen grapes from selected vineyards in the Thracian valley. The work of the oenologists here is based on the methods applied in France for small limited production batches, as well as Single Barrel production runs. This lends a unique character to the wines of each single batch, while always retaining a distinct style of beautiful and complex spectrum of aroma and taste.
